Sieve Shakers
Reliable Particle Size Analysis from Fine Powders to Coarse Materials
Sieve shakers provide accurate, repeatable particle size determination, separation and fractionation for powders, granules, suspensions and bulk materials. The product family includes vibratory, horizontal, tap and air-jet systems, allowing the sieving motion to be matched to the particle size, shape, density and flow characteristics of each sample.
With measuring ranges extending from approximately 10 µm for fine, agglomerated powders to 125 mm for coarse materials, the equipment supports everything from small laboratory samples to large, multi-kilogram batches. Vibratory models generate an efficient three-dimensional throwing motion and are suitable for both dry and wet sieving. Air-jet systems gently disperse fine powders while continuously clearing the sieve mesh, and selected models combine sieving, weighing and automated data evaluation in one instrument.
Horizontal and tap sieve shakers provide controlled motions for elongated, flat or standards-sensitive materials. Digital parameter control, stored operating procedures, evaluation software and documentation options help laboratories achieve consistent results in research, quality control and production monitoring.

How Sieve Shakers Work
Sieve shakers separate a sample into defined particle-size fractions by moving a stack of test sieves in a controlled, repeatable motion. The sieves are arranged with the largest openings at the top and progressively finer mesh sizes below, with a collection pan at the bottom.
As the shaker vibrates, taps or moves the stack horizontally, particles are repeatedly lifted, redistributed and presented to the mesh openings. Smaller particles pass through to the next sieve, while larger particles remain on the appropriate screen.
At the end of the timed cycle, the material retained on each sieve can be weighed to determine the particle-size distribution of the sample. Depending on the model, sieve shakers can perform dry, wet, air-jet, vibratory, horizontal or tap sieving for powders, granules and coarse bulk materials.
